You want to pick a market that you are familiar with or one that you are interested in. For instance, if you’re an avid golfer, then maybe you should choose a golfing market first, or a golf product first before you proceed to a weight loss market.
- Choosing a ProductAfter you choose a market, now it’s time to choose a product in that market to promote. What’s better ways to make money as an affiliate than to sell the products in your chosen market? For instance, if you’re an affiliate for a weight loss eBook, you could also promote a fat loss product, and maybe even a muscle building product.
- Create an AutoresponderThose of you who are new to affiliate marketing may be asking yourself what an autoresponder is. At its simplest, an autoresponder is a program that sends out a series of pre-written emails to prospects on your database at regular intervals. It’s essentially the same idea as setting up an “out of office” message on your email when you go away on vacation. When someone emails you they receive a message saying that you’re on vacation. That outgoing email is an autoresponse.
- Build a WebsiteIf you want to build a big affiliate business then having your own website is an absolute must. Your website will be used to promote your affiliate products and to capture important information about your prospects. This is where you’ll grab their emails so that you can send them your email campaign with the autoresponder.
- Get Traffic to Your WebsiteOnce your website is up and running you need to find ways to get people to come to it. This is called generating traffic. There are many different techniques you can use to generate traffic. For instance, you can write articles that are related to the product you’re promoting and publish them on ezine directories, you can promote your products by posting about them on forums, or you can advertise you products by paying for pay-per-click ads on search engines.
- Add Related ProductsNow that you’ve got traffic coming to your website you want to start adding products that are related to the market you chose. Since you’ve been building a good list of people who were interested in the original product you promoted, you can start introducing them to new ones as well.
